Celebrating Success - Welcome

Welcome to my Celebrating success blog. Here you will find a record of my achievments and my reflections on how they are helping me become a successful learner, confident individual, effective contributor and a responsible citizen.

PS: They made me do this. :(

Effective Contributor

I made a PowerPoint about Anne Frank with 3 other people. When we didn't finish in time i had to take it home with me to finish it.

Reflection: I have learnt to base my time around my deadline.

Responsible Citizen

In P7, my friend had to go to Aberdeen Hospital because part of his brain was swollen. Now he has to take drugs every day to help cure the enkefalitis seizures that he has because of it. The Hospital change his drugs every fortnight to help it. I have had to help him many times.

Reflection: I have learned that things as rare as enkefalitis can affect you. It's not only in far distant places that only affects other people.

Confident Individual

My class had to prepare a talk over a few weeks about anything we do or like. My talk was about my model cars (BBurago). I had to do my talk in front of my class. It was quite hard to get right but i think i got it.

Reflection: I think that I have become slightly more confident because i realise that its not that difficult to speak i front of people, and that i am not as bad as I thought I was at talking.

Succesful Learner

I finished a test last week, for maths, which was a decider for who would be put in an accelerated class, which will do an intermediate 2 course, lasting one year. The normal class will be doing a 2 year standard grade course. I got a score of 83% which probably means i will get into this class.

Tomorrow, I will be finishing a candle holder in Technical. I have been working on it for about 5 weeks. Also in technical I completed (6 weeks ago) a shelf. It is a diagonal piece of wood with 3 shelves coming out of it. It was probably my favourite piece of work.

Reflection: I learned how to spot-weld while making the candle holder and I learned how to cut using a diagonal saw (for the joints) while making the shelf.

About Me

Hi, My name is Steven, i am 14 and go to KGS. I live in Holm which is 6 miles away from the school. Holm is in the south-east of mainland Orkney.

Likes/dislikes:
My favourite subjects at school are technical and PE. My favourite food is chilli con carne. It's really good, but I hate olives and mushrooms. They are disgusting.

My life:
I am really into cars (especially Porsche <-- ), and hope to be an automotive engineer or a mechanical engineer, and I would like to go to university to study both. Sports: I used to love football, but when i moved to KGS, it started to move to the back of my mind. Now I would like to get back into it sometime soon. Music: When I was younger I played the trumpet, but now I like playing the drums, and a bit of guitar. When I listen to music, I like listening to Pendulum or The Prodigy. I don't like listening to rock music or music that is sad. If i had to choose my favourite song, i would be stuck between 6 different tracks:
  • Tarantula - Pendulum
  • Blood Sugar - Pendulum
  • I'm Not Alone - Calvin Harris
  • Omen - The Prodigy
  • Warrior's Dance - The Prodigy
  • Invaders Must Die - The Prodigy
